Two thousand and sixteen, what a year! I thought it’d be nice to do a sort of round up of the whole year here on the blog by sharing the highs and the lows of the last 12 months!
I kicked off 2016 in Berkshire with Jack! He got a little bit too drunk and we went home just after midnight. We spend New Year’s Day recovering and making vegan pizzas! At the beginning of the year, I decided I’d try weekly vlogging! My best friend also came to visit me at my mum’s in the midlands and I got a new tattoo!
February saw me move away from the country and down to sunny ol’ Bracknell with my wonderful Mr. Corbett. I left my country Inn job in the middle of nowhere and my wonderful mother and landed myself a job in the dentistry industry in Reading! Jack and I went to see The Wonder Years and Enter Shikari at Ally Pally but my vlog of that got a copy right strike despite previously being allowed to have the certain TWY track.. so there’s now no sound on the vlog, sorry! I mastered dutch braids and wore them to death pretty much all of February, not sorry.

One sunny Friday in March, I decided that I wanted to cut in a full fringe again.. only halfway through chopping I realised that I really didn’t, so I ended up with an awkward, thick side fringe. I also visited Southampton for the first time whilst visiting my little brother at uni!
At the very beginning of April, Jack’s younger sister got married! It was a beautiful day and night and to my recollection, everyone had an amazing time! I turned 22 on April 16th and to celebrate, my mum and Stephen(my step dad) came and visited Jack and I in Bracknell. We ate Zizzi’s, Jack made me an amazing cake and my mum spoilt me rotten with gifts, as always.
Towards the end of April, Jack and I were having a really hard time looking for somewhere new to live for just the two of us. A couple of sleepless nights and breakdowns resulted in Jack and I taking a spontaneous road trip up to Richmond, North Yorkshire.. in the middle of the night! We’re mental, I know, but we had such a good time just travelling in each others company, buying pop-punk CD’s at services and exploring a little town I spent some of my childhood in!

May saw everything change. On Saturday May 21st, I pee’d on a stick and that said stick told me that I was.. red alert, PREGNANT. As this blog post goes live, I am just over 36 weeks pregnant and I still can’t quite believe it! May brought a couple of adventures, including a trip to Windsor Great Park in a glorious heatwave and a trip to London to see Busted with two of my oldest friends.
During the middle of June, I started to really struggle with myself emotionally. I felt like being pregnant was this massive secret, which to an extent it was, but I felt like people could tell I was holding something back from them. I had a really rough time with feeling exhausted and feeling like I’d hit rock bottom. Towards the end of the month, Jack and I took some time off together and spent a couple of nights in Birmingham before heading off to see my mum to *gulp* tell her we were having a baby!
During this month is when things started to get a bit more, “real.” I took the big plunge and told mum I was pregnant. Holy shit balls I was crapping my pants! But it was actually a really lovely reaction and I am so lucky to have such an amazing family around me! Shortly after returning back to Bracknell, we had a late night emergency hospital visit as I was experiencing some really horrible pains. Thankfully, everything turned out to be fine and the following week, we had our 12 week scan! Baby was cooking away nicely in there! Lest we forget that July saw me become obsessed with Pokemon Go … for all of about.. two weeks I think? Props to you if you’re still playing!

Time to announce to the world that we were having a baby! I shared this post which ended being my most viewed post throughout August and holy crap I was terrified! I’m not entirely sure why, but I was! It was nice to let the cat out of the bag though, I tell ya that! I also shared my first bump update! Eeep, I can’t believe that I thought THIS was a bump! If only December me could tell August me haha! It was also really great to start building relationships with some of my pregnant and now mummy buddies!
Sadly, August saw me suffer with both my mental and physical health. At around 17 weeks pregnant, my body decided it would be funny to inflate.. and inflate.. and inflate! Ladies and gentleman, oedema was about to become a frenemy! In turn, I was also suffering massively with my body image! My body was changing day by day and I had no control over it. I wrote about it a bit more here if you’d like to take a look.
But of course, the best thing to come out of August was that Jack’s elder sister had her little baby girl and what a pure little beauty she is!
September was one of those months where everything felt as though it was going at 100mph. Firstly, we had our 20 week scan, which minus a few hiccups, went perfectly fine and we were delighted to find our that we would be expecting a baby boy! We also celebrated Jack’s birthday and I tried kimchi for the first time! It was quite nice!
Still on the hunt for a somewhere for our new little family, Jack and I found a lovely little flat in Ashchurch which we fully thought we would be moving into come the end of the month! Sadly, we got, ahem, royally screwed over and would no longer be moving. Queue multiple massive meltdowns. Including one on my way into work which saw me hyperventilating and blubbering in the kitchen.. classy I know!
Thankfully, October came around and we found an even lovelier home for our soon to be family of three! With all the paperwork and payments done pretty much the day after we(I say we, I mean I, Jack trusted me big time with this one haha!) viewed, all that was left was to sit and wait until November 15th when we could move in! With this happening, work decided to throw me a wee baby shower which was so lovely of them! We played some baby shower games and ate cake, what more could you want?
I also attended my first blogger meet up in London all on my lonesome! Proud big girl moment! I knew some girls that were going that I had met through twitter but I had never met any of them in real life! Jack and I also took our first trip to IKEA together and we somehow managed to survive without killing each other.. not to mention the fact that when we went it was half term, dear lord.
A huge sigh of relief this month as things were all starting to come together! We bought our pram, queue extreme excitement! We moved into our lovely new home, super smoothly too if I do say so myself and we got to see one of my all time favourite bands, Panic! At The Disco! We also made a flying visit into Camden to see my gorgeous bestie Jade!
If you know me in real life, you might know that I have a ring that I wear on my right hand that my mum bought me when I was about 17/18.. well, I had to take it off because my hands were now also becoming super duper swollen throughout the day. Queue meltdown number 236972392 of the year so far!

This month has of course, been all about family and festivities! I almost can’t quite believe that this year is almost over but at the same time, I feel as though I have been pregnant.. forever! 2016 was certainly a challenge to say the least, but in less than 48 hours, a brand new year will begin and I just know that 2017 is going to be the best year of my life, I just can’t wait to meet our little Prince(who, if you’re wondering, we may now actually have a name for!)
I hope 2016 wasn’t too harsh on you and I hope that 2017 is the best year of your life yet! Love to you all and I’ll see you in 2017!
