If you missed my week 37 bump update, you catch it here.

Bump Update | Week 38 | Pregnancy Updates | Love, Maisie

Well, week 38 didn’t start out so well. Last Thursday(12th), I headed off for my midwife appointment as normal, basically praying that our little boy was engaged and ready to arrive a little earlier than planned! I hoped onto the bed(is it really a bed.. table?) in the midwife’s room, only to be informed that baby Corbett was in fact, not engaged at all. He was still head down as he has been for the entirety of this pregnancy, but not engaged one bit. Nada. Sigh. So we are trekking back next week(yesterday as this post goes live) at 39 weeks + 1 to check on his engagement. Let’s hope he’s ready to go by then!

Over the weekend, Jack and I went to one of our favourite places in Gloucester, Portivo Lounge. In true full term pregnant lady fashion, I stuffed my face with their falafel burger and sweet potato fries (absolutely divine) and even had a cheeky coffee, yes, a real one! We realised it could possibly be our last meal out as a family of two, which is kind of scary, but super exciting as well!

The rest of week 38 has seen me curled up on the sofa re-watching the entirety of The Vampire Diaries, battle with my God awful acid reflux, which always seems to be worse at night or if I’m laying on my right side, and lots of pain and pressure in my pelvic/groin area.. again, lovely! People keep telling me it’ll get worse when the baby is engaged, but holy crap how much worse can it get before it’s more painful than labour itself? All jokes aside, walking and turning over in bed are really, really becoming almost too painful to even think about doing.. so I’m considering getting into bed and staying there until this baby wants to make his grand entrance.

Despite all the negativity in this post and in all of my bump updates really, I am beyond excited to meet our little man! Let’s hope he doesn’t keep us waiting too long! Once baby Corbett is born, I will of course be talking all about him and the labour and birth and everything in between here on the blog. It might take some time to get it all written and published because I’m sure that life with a newborn isn’t so.. time allowing for things like blogging! But if you do want to keep in the loop, be sure to follow my Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages so you know when the time has come!

  2. I've had the massive pain in my lower stomach & this pressure between my legs throughout the whole day today. It started last night. There haven't been any contractions or water, but for ffs if this is it I might not be ready yet 😀 I'm now at week 34+4 so I called to the hospital & they just said that I need to rest & it's propably nothing. Well, we'll see about that. Going to call there later this evening if this won't go away.
I hope that your baby is engaged soon so you'll see him 🙂 Although, I've heard that all babies don't engage at all before labor, usually they do.

  3. Although pregnancy in general can be a bit of a pain in the ass, or so it appears… reading your bump updates have me feeling really excited about becoming an auntie this year. My sister is currently 20 weeks gone, and she's having a boy to! My first nephew, it feels strange just typing that haha x

  4. Eeek, where did the time go, I can't believe you are SO CLOSE to your due date, he really will be here soon, I promise! Sorry you've been feeling so rough with the SPD, hope you are having a lovely chilled Saturday night in and being spoilt/weighted on 🙂

  5. I feel you on the pelvin pain! I had it from 26 weeks and it was absolute agony when I walked, it was like the baby was doing a headstand on my pelvic bone. Mine actually got a lot better by 35 weeks when he must have moved, so I don't think it necessarily gets worse when he's engaged .. he may just needs to move about! I'm so excited for you though – it's the best feeling ever finally seeing their little face!
