If you missed my week 37 bump update, you catch it here.
Well, week 38 didn’t start out so well. Last Thursday(12th), I headed off for my midwife appointment as normal, basically praying that our little boy was engaged and ready to arrive a little earlier than planned! I hoped onto the bed(is it really a bed.. table?) in the midwife’s room, only to be informed that baby Corbett was in fact, not engaged at all. He was still head down as he has been for the entirety of this pregnancy, but not engaged one bit. Nada. Sigh. So we are trekking back next week(yesterday as this post goes live) at 39 weeks + 1 to check on his engagement. Let’s hope he’s ready to go by then!
Over the weekend, Jack and I went to one of our favourite places in Gloucester, Portivo Lounge. In true full term pregnant lady fashion, I stuffed my face with their falafel burger and sweet potato fries (absolutely divine) and even had a cheeky coffee, yes, a real one! We realised it could possibly be our last meal out as a family of two, which is kind of scary, but super exciting as well!
The rest of week 38 has seen me curled up on the sofa re-watching the entirety of The Vampire Diaries, battle with my God awful acid reflux, which always seems to be worse at night or if I’m laying on my right side, and lots of pain and pressure in my pelvic/groin area.. again, lovely! People keep telling me it’ll get worse when the baby is engaged, but holy crap how much worse can it get before it’s more painful than labour itself? All jokes aside, walking and turning over in bed are really, really becoming almost too painful to even think about doing.. so I’m considering getting into bed and staying there until this baby wants to make his grand entrance.
Despite all the negativity in this post and in all of my bump updates really, I am beyond excited to meet our little man! Let’s hope he doesn’t keep us waiting too long! Once baby Corbett is born, I will of course be talking all about him and the labour and birth and everything in between here on the blog. It might take some time to get it all written and published because I’m sure that life with a newborn isn’t so.. time allowing for things like blogging! But if you do want to keep in the loop, be sure to follow my Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages so you know when the time has come!
