Everyone has their favourite top. My current favourite top to wear in the day time is a plain pink t-shirt. Pretty basic but practical when I’m just at home looking after Tyler. But when my birthday came around a couple of weeks ago and Jack and I had plans to go out for dinner for the first time since Tyler arrived into the world, I realised that I didn’t have any dresses in my wardrobe or “going out” tops.
I’m at that weird post partum stage, where my pre pregnancy clothes are still a bit of an awkward fit(read: too tight) and my maternity clothes drown me to the point where I just look ridiculous. So on the morning of our planned meal, I headed out to town and popped into Primark to see if there was anything that tickled my fancy(I ruddy love this saying)! I ended up picking up some more basic t-shirts(classic me lol), a few nicer pieces and two dresses. I couldn’t decide which dress I liked best so I decided to go home and try them both on with shoes etc and just return whichever dress I didn’t like as much.
To my surprise, I preferred one of the tops that I had picked up for just £6! Don’t get me wrong, both of the dresses were lovely, one was a black lace number and really flattering for my mummy tummy, but I felt most comfortable in this little peter pan collared top!
So, for out first proper night out as parents, I decided to pop my faithful black jeans on and my new little “going out” top! I paired it with some red dolly shoes and that Matalan bag that’s on every bloggers shoulder at the minute!
I think the little details are what get me with this top notch bargain of a top. The peter pan collar, adorable. The butterfly print, perfect for spring and the ruffled short sleeves are an added bonus! The style of the sleeves are something that I find are flattering on myself. I’ve always been conscious about my upper arms, even more so now, so these are just the right length to hide them away!
So in the end, I ended up returning both dresses, as God only knows when the next time we’ll go on a night out! I was tempted to hang on to the black lacey dress but I figured that I really didn’t need it sat in my wardrobe, not being worn, when black lacey dresses are something that you can always find on the high street no matter the time of year!
I’m still trying to regain my style confidence since becoming pregnant and giving birth but I think I’m slowly getting there! I can’t wait to share some more pieces that I’ve been loving recently, which actually consists of lots of pink! Yay for spring!
Basically, this is the best £6 I spent in April and I really do think that this little number will be in my wardrobe for some time! Do you have a favourite bargain buy you’ve picked up recently? Do you often find yourself popping on “fancy” t-shirts as oppose to dresses? Let me know!
