It honestly just blows my mind that we’re at the end of this year already. At the end of 2016 I knew that the end of this year would be so different in comparison.. and it really is! We live in a different home, in a different town and have an almost 11 month old!
I’ve been meaning to write this post up for weeks now but I’m only managing to get it done the day before it’s live, so I hope I remember to mention everything that I wanted to! So, without further ado, here’s how our 2017 panned out:
You can read my Goodbye 2016 post here, my Hello 2016 post here and a round up of 2013 here.
should have been the month that Tyler was born, but of course the little munchkin is as stubborn as his mother and didn’t arrive on time. On Tyler’s due date, I shared this letter
that I wrote to him which I can’t wait to show him when he’s older! Looking back at my posts through January, it’s clear that I was very much uncomfortable and just sitting around and waiting for Tyler to be born! I actually wrote this post all about my pregnancy essentials
the day that we went into the hospital to start the induction process!
was a very quiet month on the blog but a very busy one outside of it. On February 2nd, Tyler John Corbett
was born at 3.09am weighing a whopping 9lbs5oz
! You can read all about our induction and birth story here
. With very little sleep or energy, February was both a brilliant month and a very difficult one. Becoming a parent has been the absolute highlight of my life, but it was a very daunting experience at first.
March again was a quiet one for us online as we were still adjusting to life as new parents! It was also when I really started to struggle quite badly with my mental health(which I went on talk about later in the year) and to be honest, most of the month is just a huge blur. It makes me sad now that I let depression rob me of such a precious time in our lives, but at least I am still working hard at beating depression every single day for our little family.
was my birthday month so my mum came over one evening to look after Tyler whilst Jack and I headed out for our first evening out without buba! We didn’t stay out that late at all and on the way home we ate McDonald’s and the best thing was, I didn’t have a hangover the next morning! We had some pretty good weather through April, for a change
, so we had lots of walks which certainly helped to clear the cobwebs and start that dreaded weight loss journey! I shared one of my most popular blog posts to date, an honest account on my first 10 weeks as a mother
and looking back on it now, I feel as though there was so much more that I could have written.
sent the three of us down to Brighton where we finally got to meet up with my long time “online friend
and her family! You can read all about our little adventure and see the vlog here
. On the blog, I talked about finding my confidence
as a mother and now seven months on, I think I’m really bossing this mum thing.. well, mostly!
I finally started to feel more like myself again. I still had some pretty rough days but baby steps, right?
I shared a post that I still really love entitled, I don’t yet love the way my body looks, but..
which you can read here
. During June we adventured to a National Trust site and used the baby sling properly for the first time and discovered that Tyler loves being outside! Speaking of being outside, remember that
heat wave? I suddenly went from constantly worrying that Tyler would be too cold to having him in just a nappy and trying to keep him cool! We also took Tyler swimming for the first time and he loved it! I can’t believe we haven’t been much since.
seemed to be a one of those months that just flew by! I didn’t get much blogging done but I did spend lots of time at Gloucester Quays and drank a lot of coffee! We also attended Tyler’s cousins Christening which I shared about 5,000 photos of on Instagram
. Although I’m not religious and we aren’t christening Tyler, it was a really lovely ceremony and day in general! Tyler had his first bus ride and I treated myself to a new tattoo, so a pretty epic month if you ask me!
came around and just like that, Tyler was half a year old
! Just look at that cheeky little face, he makes my heart melt!
It was also the month that I finally started sharing more about my mental health here on Love, Maisie
. I shared two posts, the first was Pregnancy Is Tough
and then the following week, Post Natal Depression and Me
. I had an overwhelmingly positive response to both posts but especially the latter. I am so touched that so many of you had such lovely things to say and also very happy that it actually helped some of you too!
was a good un
! The highlight was the mini road trip that Tyler and I took with my mum to see my grandparents in North Wales. Tyler learnt lots of new things in September, including how to pull himself up to standing and he even took a few teeny steps on his walker at his grandparents house, clever buba
! I talked about rediscovering my style post baby
which proved to be quite a popular blog post. I had so much fun shooting all the different looks and I can’t wait to create more personal style content in 2018!
is one of my favourite months! I adore autumn and all of the colours in nature are just so beautiful. It was a pretty hectic month for us as a family as we decided that we would be moving! It wasn’t until the very end of the month that we found our perfect new home, but we found it! So we had a lot of packing and sorting to do! My favourite post from October was 5 things that help me with my mental health
. It was another post that had really good feedback and I’m so pleased to know that my blog, if only in a small way
, can make a difference to peoples lives! I also talked about the possibility of having more children in the future, which you can read here
. At the end of the month, Tyler and I managed to sneak away to London for a shoot with ASDA for some new campaign videos, which you can see here
feels like such a blur! We secured our house move for Decemeber so we really did have a lot of packing to do! I shared my thoughts on Social Media vs Motherhood
and wrote Tyler another letter
! I’m usually preparing for Christmas in November but I just didn’t have the time this year! A combination of having a nine month old and trying to move house, doesn’t leave much time for getting festive!
December brings us to now and we have had an amazing month! Very tiring, but amazing. We moved out of our old flat and into our new home and we couldn’t be happier! Jack proposed, eek! WE’RE GETTING MARRIED, so so so bloody happy and so exciting! We spent Christmas day with Jack’s family and boxing day with mine and it was honestly just so perfect. I can’t believe that Tyler’s first Christmas is already over and done with but I am so grateful to everyone who made it really special for us.
So there are a just a couple of days left in 2017 but all I can think about now is the New Year. 2018, we’re ready for you!
