For my first wedding blog post, I’ve decided to put together a little list of some of the things I’m super duper excited for.
Becoming Mrs. Corbett
More and more these days people tend to keep their Maiden name or go with a double barrelled name, which of course is perfectly amazing if it’s what you want to do, but one wedding tradition we will be sticking to is me taking Jacks name. Not to justify it, but just to let you know why:
a) If this is your first time reading my blog, you might not know that Jack and I have a son, who has Jacks surname, so I am really excited to finally share the same surname as my two favourite men in my life.
and b) I’ve read and heard that many women like to keep their own family name going when they marry, but my surname actually isn’t the same as my mums(she has remarried) and my father isn’t in our lives so I really don’t have any emotional attachment to my surname.
So here’s to becoming a Corbett!
My dress. Oh my. Yes, I already have my dress and in my eyes, it’s perfect and everything I dreamed it would be. Of course, I won’t be sharing any photos of it until the big day, but I am beyond excited to get dressed the morning of our wedding and feel like an absolute princess. I was kindly sent this gorgeous bridal kimono from Hunkemoller, which I’ll certainly be wearing the morning of whilst we’re all getting ready!
Once we are married I will definitely be sharing some juicy info on my dress, where I bought it, how I found it etc, so you look forward to that next Spring!
Having all of our loved ones together under one roof
Friends and family play such a huge part in both mine and Jacks lives, so obviously we’re going to be very excited to have all of our nearest and dearest there on the day, but honestly just thinking about the fact that all of our closest friends and family will be surrounding us on a day to celebrate our love for each other makes my little heart squeal with joy!
Seeing our venue come to life
We’re doing a lot of DIY and bargain hunting for our wedding(would you like to see some wedding budgeting posts?) and right now, a lot of the decor is either in our spare bedroom or in my head, ha! The main focus of the decor will be for the reception. My mum always says how amazing it felt when she got married and walked into the reception and saw everything laid out to exactly how she had imagined it.. I can not wait for that feeling!
Our first dance
We’ve had our first dance song picked out for quite some time now and it’s a song that Jack and I have loved for a very long time and as soon as Jack suggested it as our first dance, we knew it was the perfect choice! Again, I won’t be telling you what it is just yet but I am so excited to share my first dance as a married woman to a song that has a special place in my heart.
Of course, I’m excited for everything in between too! The food, the photographs, the (potentially) copious amounts of alcohol, the smiles, the tears, the speeches! I could go on and on but I’ll leave you with those 5 things for now.
Are you getting married anytime soon? Or just starting to plan? I’d love to hear what you’re most excited for!
