If you missed Tyler’s 20 month update, you can catch it here.
I think the biggest difference in Tyler in the last month has to be his speech. He’s learnt a few new words and is trying to repeat everything we say to him. Sometimes he comes close and then carry’s on babbling away to himself, it’s very cute. His latest word is toast and he now asks me for toast about 326 times a day.. it’s not getting annoying yet.. really.
Although we have had a few mishaps when we’ve been with other toddlers Tyler’s age with regards to sharing, I think he’s coming around to the concept and has started (sometimes) passing toys to other children. We visited our friends in Brighton last month and we did have a couple of mini tantrums from both parties due to them both wanting the same toy at the same toy(naturally) but I really am sure that the general idea of sharing is getting through to Tyler a bit more now.
We’re still in some sort of sleep regression.. it’s not fun. Thankfully Tyler stopped needing one of us to be in his room to fall asleep and he will happily go to bed most nights between 7 and 7.30pm but will wake anywhere from 9pm to 2am crying to come into bed with us. He is still settling when he comes into our bed but it does mean that I’m not getting the best of sleep at the moment. If you’ve ever shared a bed with a toddler you’ll understand why and if not, lets just say I’ve acquired a few bruises this month. I need to start looking into why it is that Tyler is waking so unsettled in the night so that we can tackle the issue head on, but really I’m thankful that most nights he is getting a good amount of hours in, but we have had a few pre 5am wake up calls which weren’t all that fun either.
All four of Tyler’s canines have just cut through and my goodness, we have one dribbley child! They don’t seem to be causing him too much grief at this very moment but he has developed a little bit of a rash around his mouth which I am assuming is from the excess saliva and the fact that it’s bloody freezing outside at the moment. We picked up some Vaseline, upon our childminders recommendation, and that seems to be keeping it from getting any worse which is great! This means we’re at 16 teeth now!
Tyler’s got a bit of an addiction to pom bears at the moment, to the point where he’ll finish a packet and want another! Of course, I have boundaries and even I know that two entire packets of crisps is pushing it. Something else to mention is cars. Tyler sort of went off them for a little while but is back to loving them, rolling them along the floor and making broooom noises and saying “beep beep,” it’s as cute as it sounds! I’m not sure if it counts as a favourite, but more of a favourite thing to do, but Tyler loves taking his trousers off! Thankfully it’s only happened when we’ve been at home and not in the middle of an aisle in the supermarket(yet) but it’s so funny because I’ll ask him, “where have your trousers gone?” and he just looks over his shoulders as if he doesn’t have a clue, haha.
If I was to describe Tyler in three words right now, they would: bouncy, happy and outgoing! I know I said this last month but I can’t believe we’re so close to Tyler’s second birthday! Where oh where is the time going, someone please slow it down!
