Well, we’re already over halfway through January and here I am, talking about what I’m planning on doing more of in the next 12 months. I did intend on sharing this blog post earlier in the month, but alas, here we are! I suppose this is a sort of resolutions post, but it’s all things that I already do, I just want to do more of!
In the last few months I’ve fallen completely back in love with books. We recently (finally) bought a secondhand bookcase and even though it’s already pretty full, I’ve bought so many books recently. My “TBR” pile is almost never ending. So I’ve set myself the challenge of reading 52 books this year. That’s one a week, so being on number 3 I’m not too far off track so far.
I love picking up a good novel and escaping to the world within it. I find it’s the perfect way to end the day and I’ve even spent a few mornings reading here and there when Tyler has let me too.
Nowadays I only drink coffee, wine and water. The latter is something I need to drink more of. I often wake up and the first thing I do is make a coffee. There’s nothing awful about that but I have started trying to have a pint of water before my morning coffee.
I can’t yet tell you if there are any positive benefits from this but hopefully I will be drinking 2 plus litres of water every day in no time!
I like to think that I’m an appreciative person and do show my loved ones how much I value them, but this year I want to make more of a point to do so, even more frequently.
The little things like making Jack a coffee in bed on the weekends or treating my mum to lunch(when was the last time this happened mama?!) or simply sending my Nana a text to say hello and that I love her. So in 2019 I’m going to spread love around thicker than the spread on my toast!
Following on from the previous point I suppose, I’m setting aside more time for myself. Time to read, time to rest, time to think and time to love and respect myself. Reading sort of falls into this category too doesn’t it. I feel like I’m at a good place with both my body and my mind, more so than I have been for a long time now.. so something must be working.
Moving My Body
We love a good dance party in our house and we generally walk everywhere too as I don’t drive, so I do get a fair bit of exercise into my daily routine but I’m vowing to move my body more this year. Whether that’s more walks or finally taking up yoga, I’ll be moving and grooving more this year.
Spending Time Outdoors
Tyler is very much an outdoorsy child, so spending time in the great outdoors is something we do frequently, but there’s always room for improvement, right! My lovely friend Laura introduced me to Your Natural Learner on Instagram and her #150hoursoutside project(which you should 100% check out!) and it’s made me even more determined to be outdoors this year. I’ve just bought Tyler a mud kitchen for the garden(for his birthday) and I’m about to make my #150hoursoutside bujo page and I couldn’t be more excited about it if I tried!
Writing About/Creating Things That I’m Passionate About
Not that I’ve created things I’m not passionate about, but I’ve certainly steered clear of certain topics in fear of not getting my points out correctly. You may have seen that I started my Sustainably Maisie journey recently and I will be pouring a lot of my soul into that project because it’s the thing that I’m most passionate about at this moment in time and I can’t wait to create more content, connect with more people and help to make a difference.
I’ve not had the best start to blogging this year so far. I’ve knocked out a couple of blog posts but I have lost my mojo a little bit. I’m finding my way back though(as you can tell from this ramble of a post!) and I’m excited for everything that 2019 has to offer!
What are you planning on doing more of in 2019? Let me know below!
