I know February is a slightly shorter month than the other 11 but wow did it fly by! Today is March 1st and I wanted to kick off the month by letting you know that I’m doing some fundraising this month and I’d love your support!
I love a challenge and so when I was looking for something “steps” related that I could do, I found Cancer Research UK’s Walk All Over Cancer campaign and just knew that I had to join in.
A fact that shocked me was that 1 in 2 people in the UK born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime. But thankfully cancer survival is improving and has doubled in the last 40 years in the UK.(source)
So every day this month (minus the last two days of the month as the 30th is my wedding day!) I’ll be clocking in at least 10,000 steps. I’ll be documenting my progress on my giving page, which you can find here and using my FitBit to track my daily steps. I’ll also be sharing daily updates on my Instagram stories which you can find here.
My day job requires me to be on my feet for the day and I usually rack up about 10,000 steps on a day when I’m working, but on the days that I’m not at work I do sometimes struggle to reach the 10,000 mark, so a few things that I’ll be doing to help me achieve this are:
- Using the couch to 5k app three days a week
- Taking Tyler out for more walks without the pram(the FitBit doesn’t count steps brilliantly when you’re pushing a pram)
- Spending more time outside in general!
- TIP if you commute or drive to work, consider walking, or walking a portion of your commute if it’s very, very far!
At the beginning of April, I’ll share another blog post seeing how I got on and if I managed to keep on target for the whole month. I’d love it if you could spare a little money for a donation to such a brilliant cause and hey, why not pledge to do 10,000 steps a day in March too? If you’re fundraising within this campaign please let me know as I’d love to share your giving page on my social media too!
